Mosquito Operations for the 2013 season are underway.
City of Laramie Mosquito Control currently rates the risk of West Nile virus infection at Level 1-(Remote risk).
Mosquito control crews are currently applying Bti to control larval mosquitoes in wetland and irrigated areas in and around Laramie.
Aerial Mosquito Control Planned: City of Laramie Mosquito Control has scheduled an aerial application of Bacillus thuringensis israelensis (Bti) for Monday May 27th. This application of biological larvacide is targeted to control nuisance mosquito larvae in irrigated areas and floodwater southwest and northwest of Laramie. Areas to be treated include; acreages along the Big Laramie River from the City limits near Cottonwood estates to approximately 10 miles southwest of Laramie, and acreages north of Curtis Street between Welsh Lane and US Hwy 30 (North 3rd Street) approximately two miles north of Laramie.
The bacteria applied are environmentally friendly and does not harm fish, amphibians, mammals or other aquatic insects. The application is scheduled to begin at daylight and should conclude by twelve noon. If inclement weather prohibits the application it will be re-scheduled for Tuesday morning May 28th at the same time. No application will be made within the City limits.
