The Department of Public Works Solid Waste Division is responsible for the collection of residential and commercial solid waste as well as the management of the City's landfill.

***AUTOMATED WASTE COLLECTION CART DELIVERY***

Beginning the week of July 6th, 2010, the Solid Waste Division will continue the Phase II roll-out of the Automated Waste Collection System.  Residents living between Fremont and I-80 from 1st to 9th Street can expect delivery of their automated waste cart starting on July 6th.  Residents in other parts of the city included in Phase II of the system can expect delivery of their carts in the weeks to follow.  Please check the newspaper and the website frequently for information pertaining to dates associated with the roll-out or call the Solid Waste Division at 721-5279 for further information.

*****NEW Green Waste Drop-off/Collection System*****

The City of Laramie Solid Waste Division is currently in the process of placing the NEW Green Waste Drop-off/Collection containers around the city.  Containers currently available for public use are located at:

• Washington Park
• Kiowa Park
• Laprele Park (north and south)
• Undine Park (north and south)
• Optimist Park
• Kiwanis Park
• North of the "T" at Colorado Ave. and Riverside Dr.
• O'dell Mini Park
• Harbon Park
• Labonte Park, behind the Children's Museum
• Laramie Recreation Center
• 15th and Skyline (adjacent to the drainage pond)
• Laramie Junior High School ("U" shaped parking lot off of 22nd St.)
• Sherman Hills (first right on Sherman Hills Road at the end of the dead end street)

Items accepted in these containers are

• Grass clippings
• Cut flowers
• Hedge clippings
• Leaves
• Small Twigs
• Sawdust
• Prunings
• Fruit Fall

*Please remove all plastic bags prior to placing green waste into the containers.

*Please call the the Solid Waste Division at (307)721-5279 to report a full container or to report any illegal dumping of non-acceptable items within the container.

*Green waste may also be taken to the landfill and dropped at the compost site, FREE OF CHARGE.

Automated Garbage Collection System:

The automated garbage collection system was started in June of 2009 and currently incorporates the areas of Alta Vista, Golf Course, Grand View Heights, Imperial Heights, Indian Hills, Laramie Ridge and select areas of West Laramie. Collection services for areas with automated garbage collection is now one time per week. Please check the schedule above for your collection day. Please refer to the link below for more information about the automated garbage collection system.

Please check back often for more information, including public meetings regarding the phase in of the system and to check for public meetings emcompassing your area of garbage collection.

• Westside - beginning 6/25/10

 

*The areas listed above are the only areas within the city that are currently experiencing automated garbage collection. Automated collection will be incorporated into other areas of the city in the near future. Please see the link below for information regarding the automated garbage collection system.

• Monday through Saturday 8:00 a.m. to 4:50 p.m.
• Sundays 9:00 a.m. to 12:50 p.m.
• Holidays Closed

Location:

North 9th Street, about 1 mile north of the city limits on the west side of the road (112 Roger Canyon Road)
