WALKING TOUR BROCHURE

3

The Parks & Recreation Department developed a walking tour brochure for citizens to use, to learn about famous and not so famous past citizens of Laramie. Included in the tour are civil war veterans, world-renowned educators, and ladies who served asmembers of the first

mixed juries in the world.

Tour brochures can be picked up at the Greenhill Cemetery office from

8am to 12pm, Monday through Friday.

AVENUE OF FLAGS

2

The objective of the avenue of flags is to promote patriotism and respect for

the American Flag and the United States by flying 62 flags along the

main avenue of Greenhill Cemetery on selected flag flying holidays

each year by honoring deceased loved ones.

This project is fully funded by the contributions of donors and volunteers.

RULES AND REGULATIONS REGARDING MEMORIALS AND THE PLACEMENT OF FLOWERS OR PLANTS...

1

Cut flowers and potted plants, wreaths and blankets shall not be allowed on grave lawns for a period of longer than three days, except during the winter months of December through March.  Also, the staff will not remove any items from grave spaces for the two weeks after Memorial Day to allow owners to collect items they wish to keep.  The deadline for removal of items by the owners is June 15, 20010. Beginning June 16, 2010, the cemetery staff will remove all items that are not placed upon a substantial base.  Flowers, planted pots, or wreaths may be left indefinitely on plots if placed upon a permanent base or foundation (typically concrete) which should be part of the monument and should be flush with the ground level and extend at least four inches beyond all sides of the flowers, plants, wreaths or vases in place on such foundation or base.  Cemetery lot owners are responsible for their own vases and containers.  Anyone interested in a living memorial of a tree or shrub may contact the cemetery office.  For more information contact:  Greenhill Cemetery Sexton at 721-5267.
